New Technique:
Here's a new style I kind of stumbled on when trying to figure out what to do with some scrap wood just laying around and gathering dust. All 4 pieces below are 3 Dimensional, ie. 2 layers of plywood with 2 sets of seperators all totaling 3 or so inches deep, if that makes sense. The 2 upper images are clocks, one a negative of the other, both approximately 18 x 24 x 3 inches. The 2 lower images are, well you know what they are, with a textured almost alligator skin like background made with a not really so special troweling technique. The lines in the figures are actually very thin saw kerfs to give an added illusion. All 4 pieces are finished in a red and black paint, white and brown paint, with a layer of shellac here and there all topped with a couple of coats of paste wax. They were very difficult to photograph because of their sheen. Pieces below are currently available through the Pearl Gallery, Baltimore Maryland. Your questions and comments welcome, Rick Santiago
